The sun can be harmful and dangerous to those living in the desert, which is why we must convert it from foe to friend. Out of this belief, the Science seminar at Nitzana focuses on the sun as a source of life and energy.
In this seminar students are exposed to science and technology. They are encouraged to learn science while having fun. Our curriculum revolves around two main themes – solar power and the desert. Topics that are included within these main themes are;
• Astronomy – the study of the universe with emphasis on physics.
• Solar Energy Utilization – how we can utilize this source for humans.
• Biology – which deals with photosynthesis and human physiology stress.
• Ecology – includes desert ecosystems and recycling
The unique remote setting of Nitzana allows us to develop special learning environments and utilize the areas' natural features to create educational activities that combine outdoor and classroom learning.
Science oriented trips can include bicycle excursions while measuring the participants' heart rate, a visit to the Solar Park, Recycling Center and water reclamation facility, thus turning a fun trip into a true learning experience.
