MASA is the Hebrew word for journey. The MASA program is available for Jewish youth from around the world. Sponsored by the State of Israel and the Jewish Agency, students are able to journey to Israel, study a variety of subjects, while learning about the Land and the people. Meaningful, long lasting relationships are formed that result in students immigrating to Israel or at the least, strengthening ties between Israeli society and Jewish communities in other parts of the world. For many youth, their Jewish identity is reinforced, fostered in an environment that encourages one to be proud of their heritage. MASA programs vary in length from one semester to a year long.

MARVA PROGRAM

This challenging two month program is offered to Jewish youth from abroad, 18-28 years old, that they may come and experience Israel first hand. This outdoor adventure strengthens ties to Israel, the people and the land. It is held at a simulated Israeli basic training camp called a Gadna. The program is conducted in Hebrew so applicants should complete at least Ulpan Aleph before the starting date. Participants not only become familiar with Nitzana, but also Jerusalem, the Galilee, the Golan Heights, Sde Boker and other regions of Israel as well.

Walking tours, hikes, weapon training, navigation, seminars, military ceremonies and training exercises are experienced, side by side native Israelis. The agenda includes Israeli politics, security and social issues, the history of the IDF and the settlement of the land.  Marva is sponsored by the Israeli Army and the Jewish Agency.
